Character Design with Gillian Reid

This week we had a workshop with the Character Designer Gillian Reid. It was such fun!
She started by explaining how she usually worked and asked us to do the same: we had to imagine a character and his hobby.
Here is my old grumpy granny with a secret passion for DJing and electronic music!
Firstly, we had to make different shapes trying to go over the stereotypes: 

After we found the shape we prefered, we had to draw different rough positions of our character without going into too much detail:

Later we had to do the same with the head and the expressions, going more in details:

This is the result of the few hours of workshop with Gillian and I enjoy it so much. After a morning like this, how can you stop drawing? Such fun... So, I just drew few more pictures before my wrist "told me" to stop.

Last Saturday afternoon, trying to come back to some life drawing.

Finally I finished it! It took longer than I thought because I had some right-hand pains, but as soon as I could I completed it.

Now it prints on the window of Anacrusi music school!

Some summer sketches

Few weeks ago I finished another sketchbook and these sketches are a few from the last pages. Summer in Italy is getting really hot and so, i passed a lot of afternoon at home under in the shade and that little bit of cool. I passed more time looking to new amazing artists in the web and try to learn from them rather than keep drawing. As I said, i finished my last sketchbook and i still didn't find a new one. I have to do it soon...

Coming back in Italy I also met again some close friend and one of this I used often to draw her portraits. Like this one:
